Without parsley sweet root and aromatic leaves today is impossible to homemade soup or stew, but two thousand years ago the ancient Greeks and Romans, this Mediterranean plant were not using for cooking. Until the middle ages, parsley was mainly used as a medicinal herb or as a means of decoration in a variety of special occasions, but later became one of the main spice plants in the kitchen.

Flavonoids act as antioxidants and thus protect against the negative impact of free radicals in the body.

It also has strong anti-inflammatory properties and parsley can reduce the frequent appearance of flu, colds, sore throats and onset of arthritis. Good source of folic acid, which is important in maintaining a healthy heart and blood vessels.  It is well known that parsley acts as a diuretic because it promotes urination. These properties of parsley were well known to the ancient Egyptians who were using the wild parsley to treat kidney disease and urinary tract. It is also used in the treatment of rheumatism, gout, swollen feet and liver disease, and in the diet of diabetics. Prefer to use it fresh because it is available almost all year round, but it can be used dried or frozen. When you purchase parsley, chose one with healthy, dark green leaves.

Avoid bright green and yellow leaves because that parsley is old and faded. Sprigs of parsley that you will not use the same day, you can put in a glass with water and they will stay fresh for several days, but change the water regularly. If you want to dry out a larger amount for preparation medicinal teas, spread sheets on a clean cloth, allow to dry, chop them and keep in jars in a dark place. Use it for tea against swollen eyelids.

Take a hundred grams of dried leaves and place in a deciliter of cold water. Let it stand for a whole day and then strain. Take a cotton pad, soak with liquid and put on lids before sleeping or after waking up. The same liquid you can use in the fight against wrinkles. Soaked cotton pad to dab places where wrinkles appear most, around the eyes, lips, nose, the forehead and neck. Do not rinse but let the liquid dry on the skin and repeat the process several times.

Syrup treats infections caused by bacteria

Syrup of parsley is applied in the fight against bacteria and may be useful in the treatment of urinary tract caused by the bacterium Escherichia coli. Grind 0.3 oz (10 g) parsley root, add the same amount of lemon with peel and grind all together. Mixture, add 0.3 oz (10 g) of honey and 3.3 oz (100 ml) of olive oil. Mix well, pour into a jar and take a spoon before each meal. When all spend, check the results.

Against painful menstruation

To prepare this tea take three ounces of parsley leaves and pour half a liter of boiling water. Let stand for about ten minutes and strain. Drink at least two to three cups throughout the day to ease the symptoms of painful periods. This tea acts as a diuretic (increases urination), and thus affects the excretion of toxins from the body.

Natural compress removes cellulite

Three hands chopped parsley leaves, cook for two minutes in a liter of water. Strain and when the tea is cooled, soak the cotton cloth and rub the parts of the body with cellulite in the evenings. Leave overnight cloth in that place. To secure, through a wet rag put a plastic bag, wrap a dry towel and secure with an elastic bandage.

Tea for kidney cleaning and against body stones

Take a hundred grams of leaves, roots and seeds of parsley. Take two tablespoons of the mixture and cover with 6.7 oz (2 dl) hot water. Allow to simmer for about five minutes. Then cover, let to stand for about one hour and strain. Prepare fresh tea and drink before the meals until you use all mixture. This tea is good for kidney stones, against jaundice and liver.

Daily syrup for better mood

Parsley does not heal only the body, but also the soul. Take a glass of honey, 6.7 oz (2 dl) of parsley juice and some sweet juice like raspberries or strawberries. The juice that you will get from cooking the parsley leaves in the water, allow to cool, mix with honey and some sweet juice to get tastier syrup. Take a few tablespoons each day to feel more cheerful.
