Playing sports in teens is associated with lower risk of death from any cause after the age of 40

Sport is one of the keys to health, according to a survey in which the respondents aged 13-19 years who dealed with sports at least 80 minutes per week and are between 40 and 70 years of age had 15% lower risk of death from any cause and 16 % lower risk of death from cancer.

Now scientists at Vanderbilt University who used data collected in China added that the observed positive effect did not depend on what sports did the subjects dealt with.

In addition, the reduced risk of death was present regardless of the socioeconomic status of the participating research.

Women who continued to practice in adulthood had an average of 20% lower risk of death from any cause, adds journal Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention.

Scientists explain that exercise leads to strengthening the function of the immune system, reduce inflammatory processes in the body, improves blood cholesterol levels and lower blood pressure.
