How to Lose Weight with Working out At Home

Weight loss is a journey that requires consistency and dedication. Without these, then you will give up on your weight loss excursion before you even begin. Over the years, more and more people are continuing to add weight and obesity is one of the leading lifestyle diseases in the world today. We may blame it on the modern lifestyle that people are living. Unlike the past, physical activity in daily life has been minimized to a great length. People no longer take the stairs or walk. Instead, they prefer stairs and automobiles. Most of the jobs we are in currently involving 95% sitting, aggravating the situation. It is general knowledge that lack of exercise causes lots of health problems. There is thus need to incorporate exercise into your daily life to ensure that you don’t jeopardize your health (and future) under the influence of modern technology.

Weight Loss At Home

Losing weight without hitting the gym may seem like a farfetched desire. The people you meet will never encourage you to try losing weight at home. However, note that there is no perfect place for weight loss. As long as you have dedication and consistency, then you are good to go. If your work forbids you from hitting the gym often, then you might try home workouts. The same case goes to people who don’t have the gym membership fee; nothing should stand between you and weight loss. How do you go about it? You may ask. Well, follow the tips below:

1. Walk Some More

Walking is one the most effective cardio/aerobic form of exercise. If the weather is nice, get out and walk as you enjoy the beautiful scenery. Sometimes you need to step out of your comfort zone and try out something new. On the other hand, if the weather isn’t so friendly, walk inside your house. Stop sending other people and start getting things yourself. If you house has stairs, walk up and down as much as possible. This way, you will tone up the legs and burn more calories. Spare at least thirty minutes for brisk walking every day. Walk around at your workplace whenever you have time and space.

2. Utilize the Technology available

Technology is evolving at a very high rate. Unlike in the past, most things can be done with a click of a button.  There are a lot of gadgets and apps that will help you keep track of your weight loss progress. According to Jeff Katula, an associate professor of health and exercise at Wake Forest University, such apps and devices will save you a lot of time that you would have used to monitor your progress by counting calories and determining whether the set out daily goals have been achieved. These smart devices will do all this work for you. A gadget like FitBit will track the number of steps you have taken and the calories burned. They may take a few bucks off your wallet, but they are definitely a worth deal.

3. Yoga

In the recent past, more and more people are embracing yoga. However, not many know that it can be used as a remedy for weight loss. After all, we associate it with deep breathing and gentle yoga poses. Alan Kristal, the leader for an ongoing research at the Fred Hutchison Cancer Research Centre, says that weight loss from yoga (with so little sweating) is not from burning calories. It may be attributed to change in mind and behavior which consequently changes the shape and size of a person. According to the study, people who practiced yoga often lost about 5 pounds over the years while those who didn’t were shown to add around 13.5 pounds. Also, people who practiced yoga and had healthy weight were shown to maintain it at that level. The good thing is you can practice yoga at home with the help of a yoga teacher (for starters). The postures are simple, and you get more than weight loss from this routine.

4. Utilize the weekends

The weekends are a perfect time to have intense workouts. Katula says that for people who can dedicate 120 minutes of exercise over the weekends, a small amount of time for exercise over the week is required. This is a relief for people who have long and grueling working hours during weekdays. Also, take this time and go out for shopping, visit friends and plan your weight loss meals for the next week.

I would be lying if I said weight loss is an easy journey. Times will get hard, but the key is to continue pressing on. 80% of this journey will involve diet while the rest is dedicated to exercise. The above tips will help you with the exercise part. Talk to a diet expert or your doctor on the possible diet for weight loss. Lose the extra pounds at the comfort of your home!
